WIRELESS VOIP NEWS

VOIP is going Wireless

Wireless VOIP will have its start in the new, free wireless cities.

wirelessvoipnews image1Major cities across the USA have, or are starting free municipal wireless networks. Cellphones are the current most popular consumer electronic product, and show impressive growth projections.  You add these two technologies together, and you have the ingredients for wireless voip (voice over internet protocol).  The world, indeed, is moving fast forward with VOIP. For those looking for it, here's our new WirelessVOIPNews video...

Wireless VOIP runs the communications over a wireless LAN (local area network). If callers are within range of a WLAN access point, they can make and receive calls over the wireless network - assuming they have a VOIP enabled phone / or blue tooth wireless phone.

Problems to Overcome, and the Medium Term Future of VOIP

wirelessvoipnews image2The exact same security issues that exist in the traditional VoIP world exist with Wireless VOIP. The security risks are eavesdropping and spam.

Because technology moves in the direction from a hardwired technology to wireless, we can expect VOIP to take the same migration path.  Voice over Internet Protocol, will later become Video Over Internet Protocol, and as computing power becomes plentiful, and the internet more encompassing, we'll have immediate access to the Internet whenever we would like.

Now we are talking a couple of decades into the future - when we will communicate over the Internet from any place on earth.
